YOU’RE NOT STUCK, YOU’RE BEING STRENGTHENED

When growth feels slow, messy, and invisible

There’s a moment in almost every recovery journey where it feels like nothing is working.

You’re trying.
You’re showing up.
You’re more aware than you used to be.

And yet…

You’re still getting triggered.
Still having hard days.
Still feeling like you should be further along by now.

So the thought creeps in:

“Why am I still here?”

And if you’re not careful, that thought turns into:

“I’m stuck.”

But what if you’re not stuck at all?

What if what feels like stagnation is actually strengthening?

When growth doesn’t feel like growth

Most people expect growth to feel like momentum.

Up and to the right.
More consistency.
Less struggle.
Clear progress.

But real transformation rarely looks like that.

Because God isn’t just changing what you do.

He’s rebuilding how you respond, how you think, and how you stand in the middle of pressure.

And that process does not feel easy.

If you’ve been trying to “fix” your behavior without understanding what’s underneath it, you’ll keep ending up in the same cycle. That’s why so much of this work starts with awareness, not effort.

If that’s new for you, I have several free tools that walk you through that step in a really practical way: click here for full access to these free tools.

The order we don’t usually expect

“In his kindness God called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation.”
— 1 Peter 5:10 (NLT)

There’s an order here most of us wish was different.

Suffering
then restoring
then strengthening
then establishing

Not instant change.
Not immediate relief.
Not everything suddenly working.

The strengthening happens in the middle of what still feels hard.

“The Lord will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength. You will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring.”
— Isaiah 58:11 (NLT)

Even when you feel dry, He is still working.

Even when it feels slow, He is still strengthening.

The kind of progress that’s easy to miss

Growth doesn’t always look like “I never struggle anymore.”

More often, it looks like:

  • You notice the urge sooner
  • You pause for even a few seconds instead of reacting instantly
  • You don’t spiral as far or as long
  • You recover quicker after a hard moment
  • You feel the tension and don’t escape it the same way
  • You start questioning thoughts you used to automatically believe

If you’re not sure how to actually start noticing these patterns, something like the Emotional Awareness Journal or Cravings Decoder can help you slow things down and see what’s really happening beneath the surface. Both are available here

Why it still feels like you’re behind

Because you’re measuring growth by the wrong markers.

You’re looking for:

  • perfection
  • consistency
  • the absence of struggle

But what’s actually changing is:

  • awareness
  • response
  • recovery
  • dependence on God

You’re looking for a finished version of yourself
while God is building something that will actually last.

This is also where a lot of people get stuck, not because they aren’t growing, but because they don’t know how to keep moving forward in this stage. That’s usually when support becomes really important.

The tension of knowing but not fully living it yet

This part of the journey is uncomfortable.

You can see more clearly now.
You recognize your patterns.
You understand what’s happening.

But you don’t always respond differently yet.

And that gap can feel frustrating.

You know better
but you don’t always do better

That doesn’t mean you’re failing.

It means you’re learning how to:

  • stay present in discomfort
  • bring God into real-time pressure
  • respond instead of react
  • live differently, not just think differently

That kind of change doesn’t happen instantly.

It’s built through repetition.

If you’ve ever thought,
“I know what to do, I just can’t seem to do it in the moment,”
that’s exactly the gap coaching is designed to help close.

What to look for instead

Instead of asking:

“Why am I still struggling?”

Start asking:

  • Did I notice more this week?
  • Did I pause even once when I normally wouldn’t?
  • Did I come back quicker after a hard moment?
  • Did I invite God into something I used to handle alone?

That’s the kind of progress that leads to real transformation.

Staying in the process instead of stepping out of it

This is where many people stop.

Not because they don’t want change
but because they don’t understand what’s happening

So they assume it isn’t working

And they go back to:

  • trying harder
  • starting over
  • or giving up

But this middle space is where the foundation is built.

This is where strength forms.

This is where things begin to hold.

If you’ve been bouncing between trying harder and starting over, it might be time for a different approach. That’s exactly what my coaching programs are built around, walking you through this process step by step instead of leaving you to figure it out alone.

👉 You can explore those here

If you’re in this place right now

You don’t need to start over.

You don’t need a new plan.

You need to keep showing up in the process you’re already in

with the right support and direction.

If you want to take a next step, here are a few options depending on where you’re at:

Start with free tools

Explore guided resources and workbooks

Book a Breakthrough Session for focused support

Or step into a 4, 8, or 12-week coaching program

and actually walk this out in real time

What’s being built in you right now

You’re not stuck.

You’re being strengthened.

The version of you that pauses
that notices
that invites God in
that responds differently

…is already forming.

Even if it doesn’t feel finished yet.

And what God is building in you right now
will hold in ways quick change never could.
