Why I Wrote This Devotional
For a long time, I thought freedom was for other people. I tried every diet, every new plan, and poured all my energy into willpower, but nothing lasted. Instead of freedom, I stayed stuck in the same exhausting cycle of shame, striving, and defeat. Food became both my comfort and my punishment. My reflection in the mirror felt less like God’s design and more like evidence of my failure.
Then God stepped into my broken story. He met me in the middle of anger, addiction, self-hatred, and binge eating. He did not meet me with shame. He met me with grace. He began peeling back lies I had believed and showing me that my worth was not tied to a number on the scale or my ability to stay in control. My worth was anchored in Him. Slowly, step by step, I discovered that Jesus came not only to save me for eternity but also to set me free here and now.
What Beauty Restored Is About
That is why I created Beauty Restored: A 30-Day Devotional. This devotional is not another set of rules or a quick fix. It is an invitation to sit with the One who restores, to let His Word speak into your wounds, and to begin believing what He says about you. Each day includes Scripture, reflection, and encouragement that will help you lay down shame and step into the truth that freedom in Christ is possible.
Over these 30 days, you will learn how to trade false promises for lasting hope, release the weight of control, and see yourself through God’s eyes. You will be reminded that you are not alone, that healing is possible, and that your story does not end in defeat. God has always had a bigger plan than cycles of striving and shame. His plan is restoration.
Why This Journey Matters
Beauty Restored is deeply personal to me because it is the very path I have walked. I know what it feels like to hide food, binge in secret, and pretend I am fine while my heart is crumbling. I also know the freedom that comes from letting Jesus into the places I kept locked away. The difference between those two versions of me is nothing short of miraculous.
I have lost over 200 pounds. But more important than the physical weight, I have lost the chains of bondage that kept me stuck for decades. Today, I walk in a freedom that comes only from Christ.
My Hope for You
As you move through these daily readings, I pray you encounter the same God who met me in my mess. The same God who whispers freedom over shame. The same God who sees you not as a failure but as His masterpiece. Whether you face food struggles, body image battles, or simply the weight of life, there is hope. Restoration is not only possible. It is promised when you surrender your brokenness to Jesus.
This devotional is not about perfection. It is about presence. It is about showing up each day and making room for God to speak into your heart. He is ready to restore what has been broken, rebuild what feels ruined, and remind you that the beauty He placed inside you has never been lost.
A Prayer Over You
Father, I lift up the one holding this devotional. I thank You that they are here by divine appointment. In the name of Jesus, I silence every lie the enemy has spoken over their identity, their body, their worth, and their future. Those lies hold no authority. Replace them with Your truth, Lord, the truth that they are fearfully and wonderfully made, chosen, redeemed, and deeply loved.
Holy Spirit, fill every empty place in their heart with Your presence. Guide them through these 30 days with clarity, courage, and peace. When shame rises, remind them of Your grace. When fear whispers, remind them of Your power. When control calls, remind them of Your care.
I pray this journey will be marked by freedom, restoration, and assurance that You are with them every step. May chains fall, hope rise, and may they see themselves as You see them — beautiful, whole, and restored in Christ.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
